Ford’s handling of the defects with its Kuga SUV, which has led to the death of one person and at least 47 Kugas catching fire, has been completely unacceptable. Insurance companies have confirmed that they had alerted Ford to issues relating to the Kuga as far back as 2014, The Times reported, yet the automaker only issued an alert to consumers in December after it was summoned by the National Consumer Commission. The cars were only recalled on 17 January. Most intolerable of all is Ford’s apparent attempts to obfuscate the cause of the Kuga fire that killed Reshall Jimmy in December 2015.
