DES’S LUXURY HOTEL STAY
Cooperative governance and traditional affairs minister Des van Rooyen, who served as finance minister for a brief four days after the axing of Nhlanhla Nene in December 2015, stayed 122 nights in hotels and two nights in a guest house while waiting for a ministerial house. The hotel costs totalled nearly R1m, according to a reply to Parliament by his department. The department of public works, who took six months to find Van Rooyen a house, foot the hotel bill, it said. The hotel, 31 on Herbert Baker, has a 180° view of Pretoria and borders a nature reserve in Groenkloof, news24.com reported.
