THE BAD

Finweek English Edition - - THE WEEK -

Not many of the 17m South Africans anxiously awaiting 1 April would have been reassured by social development minister Bathabile Dlamini’s latest denials in Parliament of any crisis regarding the payout of social grants. Dlamini was dressed in ANC colours, as were some party supporters in the public gallery who took every opportunity to add to the distasteful cheers and applause for the minister from ANC MPs while she was being lambasted by the opposition. Shortly after repeating that there is “no crisis at Sassa”, Dlamini puzzlingly went on to criticise those who seek to “deepen this crisis”.
