Police minister Nathi Nhleko has been rightly slammed for his decision to appeal a ruling by the North Gauteng High Court which found that the appointment of lieutenant general Berning Ntlemeza as head of the Hawks in 2015 was unlawful. The judges ruled that there was “direct evidence that major general [his title at the time of his appointment] Ntlemeza lacks the requisite honesty, integrity and conscientiousness to occupy the position of any public office, not to mention an office as […] important as that of the national head of the [Hawks], where independence, honesty and integrity are paramount qualities”, reported.
