The SABC’s interim board has started legal action to recover money from ousted executives Hlaudi Motsoeneng and James Aguma, who stand accused of mismanaging the public broadcaster, Business Day reported. One option under consideration is to withhold their pensions pending the conclusion of any legal processes, interim chairwoman Khanyisile Kweyama said. Motsoeneng instituted the controversial 90% local music policy, which had cost the SABC R212m according to the unaudited figures. The interim board’s term comes to an end in September, and the portfolio committee on communications is to start the process of short-listing candidates for the 12 vacancies.
