A trend is an iden­ti­fied pat­tern in a set of data. Trends are the no­table ev­i­dence of change driv­ers in ac­tion.

Change driv­ers are the forces of change that un­der­pin a trend. A num­ber of change driv­ers usu­ally work to­gether to cre­ate a trend, but a sin­gle change driver can un­der­pin mul­ti­ple, some­times very di­verse, trends.

An en­abler is a fac­tor that helps or en­hances a change driver, whereas fric­tion is the nat­u­ral re­sis­tance from the un­der­ly­ing sys­tem and block­ers are forces that pur­pose­fully op­pose a change.
