Knysna ‘sees red’
Streaks of red roared through Knysna last week as Ferrari celebrated 50 years in South Africa. Ferrari club chapters from across the country and the world descended on Knysna to commemorate the event and in the process made 29 September a day residents of the town will not forget.
All shapes, sizes, models and colours of Ferraris toured through Knysna on their way to the Knysna Waterfront, turning heads all the way. According to chairman of the Garden Route Southern Equatorial Ferrari Automobili Club (Sefac), Alistair Gibb, Sefac is the oldest Ferrari club outside Italy.
The anniversary is celebrated with a tour that started in Johannesburg and will end in Cape Town. Knysna got its turn to also experience these high performance vehicles that are every red-blooded racing fan’s dream.
“We had more than 80 vehicles taking part. They all arrived at different times, not to cause too much of an issue with traffic,” said Gibb.
Testosterone heaven - Knysna will welcome the Ferrari club back anytime. The older classics were also represented. This model looks like the one used in Magnum PI.
