Fol­lo­wing a let­ter from a con­cer­ned re­a­der the George He­rald in­qui­red a­bout the pro­gress re­gar­ding the speed li­mit on Knys­na Ro­ad and w­het­her a speed ca­me­ra on the secti­on be­t­ween to­wn and the Gar­den Rou­te Mall is being con­si­de­red. T­his fol­lows af­ter the hor­ror ac­ci­dent in which Ca­ro­li­ne van der Mer­we (21) lost her li­fe in Ju­ne t­his y­e­ar. Two d­ri­vers we­re al­le­ge­d­ly ra­cing e­ach ot­her w­hen t­hey hit Ca­ro­li­ne’s car. Ac­cor­ding to mu­ni­ci­pal spo­kes­per­son, C­han­tel Ed­wards-K­lo­se, talks re­gar­ding Knys­na Ro­ad are un­der way. The George traf­fic de­part­ment can­not ma­ke any chan­ges to the ro­ad wit­hout the ap­pro­val of Pro­vin­ce. She says the lo­cal traf­fic de­part­ment has in­cre­a­sed vi­si­bi­li­ty on the ro­ad and the pos­si­bi­li­ty of a 24-hour shift sy­stem is in­ves­ti­ga­ted.
