Acting IDP Ma­na­ger M­zu­ki­si Ce­ki­so was in­tro­du­ced to the E­den Coun­cil at the coun­cil meet­ing on Wed­nes­day 30 Au­gust. Ce­ki­so has been acting in the po­si­ti­on sin­ce 21 Au­gust. the new mu­ni­ci­pal ma­na­ger of the Bey­ers Nau­dé Lo­cal Mu­ni­ci­pa­li­ty in Graaff-Rei­net.

Rankwa­na accep­ted

Ge­or­ge Coun­cil's of­fer of e­ar­ly re­ti­re­ment in May this y­e­ar. All di­rec­tors at Ge­or­ge Mu­ni­ci­pa­li­ty we­re of­fe­red the op­por­tu­ni­ty to accept the e­ar­ly ter­mi­na­ti­on of their con­tracts af­ter a re­port, com­pi­led by

Ca­pe To­wn ad­vo­ca­te Yo­lan­da Ja­cobs, ad­vi­sed coun­cil to ne­go­ti­a­te a sett­le­ment with Ci­vil En­gi­neer­ing Di­rec­tor Ha­rold Bas­son. With the ex­cep­ti­on of the di­rec­tor of Com­mu­ni­ty Ser­vi­ces Wal­ter Hen­dricks, all the ot­her di­rec­tors' con­tracts ex­pi­red on 31 Au­gust. Rankwa­na was the on­ly di­rec­tor who accep­ted the of­fer. He de­man­ded that he gets paid out on T­hurs­day 1 Ju­ne.

The cur­rent up­gra­ding work on the Knys­na / Saas­veld Ro­ad in­ter­secti­on is im­pacting on high and low volta­ge ca­bles, street­lig­hts, traf­fic lig­hts and ki­osks a­round the in­ter­secti­ons.

The e­lec­tri­cal con­trac­tor is cur­rent­ly on si­te and the work is sche­du­led to be com­ple­ted by Mon­day 11 Sep­tem­ber. The street­lig­hts at the in­ter­secti­on are off for this pe­ri­od.
