Dog brutally attacked with panga
Animal lovers were appalled by the cruelty of humanity last week, after seeing pictures on the Garden Route-SPCA's Facebook page of a badly injured dog that, according to the owner, had been attacked with a panga. The three-year-old pit bull,
Toscha, was brutally attacked on
Wednesday evening at about 19:45 in
Zone 6, Thembalethu. Garden Route SPCA inspector André Baartman went to the scene and found the badly injured dog that had lost a significant amount of blood. Baartman confirmed the dog had ianjuries to her skull and her snout. "She was in shock and pain." Toscha has been admitted to the SPCA clinic section and will stay until her wounds have healed. Baartman says he was dismayed when he arrived at the scene. "The injured dog and its owners waited helplessly next to the pavement." He said it seemed as if Toscha's owners and children from the area had witnessed the brutal attack. Baartman said a case will be opened against the suspect. He encouraged people to report any violence against animals immediately by contacting the Garden Route SPCA on 044 878 1990 during office hours, and the emergency after-hours line on 082 378 7384.
Toscha is recovering after she was brutally attacked last Wednesday. Donations from animal lovers have been flooding in to ensure she received fine medical treatment.
