Traditional dress donned for Heritage Day
Young and old from Lawaaikamp and Thembalethu held various events to celebrate National Heritage Day, which is held annually on 24 September. On this day everybody is encouraged to celebrate their cultural traditions in the wider context of the great diversity of cultures, beliefs, and traditions that make up the nation of South Africa.
At an event on Sunday 24 September organised in Thembalethu by Councillor Faith Mdaka (fourth from left), Heritage Day was celebrated in full costume.
The IsiXhosa traditional outfit mainly worn by married women was proudly displayed by Noma Mtsha from Thembalethu.
This young lady from Lawaaikamp, Anga April, brightened the streets with her colourful traditional outfit.
