The two-day e­vent last week in ce­le­bra­ti­on of fi­re­fig­h­ters' coura­ge and their de­di­ca­ti­on to com­mu­ni­ties was well sup­por­ted by Oak­hurst In­su­ran­ce. The com­pa­ny was al­so in­vol­ved in the up­gra­de of the li­ving quar­ters at the Ge­or­ge Fi­re De­part­ment last y­e­ar. "W­hen as­ked to get in­vol­ved in t­his y­e­ar's In­ter­na­ti­o­nal Fi­re­fig­h­ters' Day they did not he­si­ta­te," said Ge­or­ge Fi­re Chief, Neels Bar­nard. Pe­ter G­rind­lay, en­coura­ged lo­cals to get mo­re in­vol­ved with the e­mer­gen­cy ser­vi­ces. "In­ter­na­ti­o­nal Fi­re­fig­h­ters' Day 2018 was a ro­a­ring success, but we shouldn't need a ca­ta­strophic fi­re or pa­ra­de to re­mind us of the gre­at work they do," he said.

A te­am of E­den Fi­re De­part­ment swe­at it out in the ty­re roll di­vi­si­on. They are De­on S­tof­fels, Ryno O­li­vier, Ken­neth John­son and Ben­nie van Vuur­en.

Lig­hts, ca­me­ra and acti­on! O­ver­berg’s wo­man te­am, the Fi­ref­lies, ga­ve it their all du­ring the com­pe­ti­ti­on.
