Beach clean-up at Kaaimans
The George branch of the
Stranded Marine Animal Rescue Team (Smart) initiated and took part in a beach clean-up at Kaaimans river on Wednesday 9 May. Within an hour volunteers, mainly NMU students, filled three bags with waste. "We thank our volunteers who assisted. You guys are awesome and we appreciate your commitment and dedication. We are thankful that we could make a difference, even with just three bags. It's three less bags of waste in the ocean," said Smart volunteer Kelly-Jane Arthur.
Smart is a volunteer based nonprofit organisation that tends to all marine animal beachings along the coast between Wilderness and the Gouritz river. Please report any beachings, dead or alive, on 072 227 4715.
