SC Col­le­ge now of­fers two U­ni­sa accre­di­ted pro­gram­mes

South Ca­pe TVET Col­le­ge, in col­la­bo­ra­ti­on with U­ni­sa, of­fe­red two

U­ni­sa accre­di­ted pro­gram­mes at the s­tart of this y­e­ar.

The cour­ses are the Ba­chel­or of E­du­ca­ti­on De­gree (BEd) Foun­da­ti­on Pha­se (qua­li­fi­ca­ti­on co­de: 90102) and the L5 Hig­her Cer­ti­fi­ca­te (HC) in A­dult Ba­sic E­du­ca­ti­on and Trai­ning (qua­li­fi­ca­ti­on co­de: 98615). The col­le­ge ex­pe­rien­ced an o­ver­w­hel­ming in­te­rest in the U­ni­sa pro­gram­mes from the lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties, with mo­re than 800 ap­pli­cants in 2017.

A re­cord to­tal of 303 stu­dents we­re success­ful in their ap­pli­ca­ti­on: 129 BEd stu­dents and 174 Le­vel 5 HC A­bet stu­dents we­re of­fe­red spa­ces by U­ni­sa to re­gis­ter in 2018. Young u­nem­ploy­ed a­dults with gra­de 12, as well as crè­che and un­der­qua­li­fied p­ri­ma­ry school te­a­chers, re­a­li­sed the im­por­tan­ce of furt­her­ing their stu­dies and im­pro­ving their qua­li­fi­ca­ti­ons.

The U­ni­sa pro­gram­mes are of­fe­red at fi­ve South Ca­pe TVET Col­le­ge cam­pu­ses, na­me­ly Beau­fort West, Bi­tou, Ge­or­ge, Mos­sel Bay and Oudts­hoorn. The pro­gram­me de­sign ser­ves as a big at­tracti­on for the stu­dents. It con­sis­ts of three com­po­nents: dis­tan­ce le­ar­ning, fa­ce-tofa­ce le­ar­ning and work­pla­ce ex­po­su­re. The col­le­ge stu­dents gai­ned practi­cal experience at va­ri­ous crè­ches and p­ri­ma­ry schools throug­hout the Sout­hern Ca­pe and Cen­tral Ka­roo.

Fa­ce-to-fa­ce con­tact ses­si­ons are of­fe­red from Mon­days to Wed­nes­days for u­nem­ploy­ed youth and a­dults, and Sa­tur­day clas­ses ca­ter for em­ploy­ed stu­dents. The­se con­tact ses­si­ons en­su­red ex­cel­lent success rates in the first se­mes­ter U­ni­sa ex­ams, le­a­ding to 111 sub­ject / mo­du­le dis­tincti­ons. At the Ge­or­ge cam­pus, the fi­ve sub­jects / mo­du­les pass ra­te for BEd is 85%, and the L5 Hig­her

Cer­ti­fi­ca­te A­bet pass ra­te is 89%.

The pass ra­te of stu­dents a­cross the fi­ve cam­pu­ses is 83% for the fi­ve BEd sub­jects / mo­du­les and 87% for L5 Hig­her Cer­ti­fi­ca­te A­bet stu­dents.

The­se ex­cel­lent re­sults re­so­na­te the hard work and de­di­ca­ti­on of stu­dents and lec­tu­rers du­ring the first se­mes­ter, un­der the effective le­a­ders­hip of Fe­li­ci­ty S­choltz (HoD for hig­her e­du­ca­ti­on pro­gram­mes at the col­le­ge).
