re­dak­sie van Ce­le­sti­ne P­re­to­ri­us A Fa­ce­book post on bo­nes found at the Old Toll Hou­se in the Mon­ta­gu Pass grab­bed the at­ten­ti­on of the pu­blic. Ac­cor­ding to an en­try on the Fa­ce­book pa­ge “SABC News We­stern Ca­pe”, hu­man re­mains we­re found at the toll hou­se. Ger­da S­toltz, the cu­ra­tor of the Toll hou­se, con­fir­med t­hat the al­le­ga­ti­ons we­re ab­so­lu­te non­sen­se. The bo­nes are the spi­ne bo­nes of sheep t­hat his­to­ri­cal­ly ser­ved as child­ren’s toys. They we­re u­sed as ma­ke be­lie­ve oxen in front of a sheep jaw ‘wa­gon’. It for­med part of an exhi­bi­ti­on t­hat was on s­how in the Toll hou­se.

Die kin­ders in die Groot Trek het ‘n ka­ke­been van die skaap ge­neem en hul eie wa ge­maak. Die rug­wer­wels was die os­se. Dit is ook dol­os­se ge­noem.
