Parkdene High takes on behaviour rogues
The disciplinary hearing of the 14-year-old Grade 8 learner of Parkdene Secondary School who allegedly punched his teacher, Heila Pangel, in the face on Monday 29 October, was held on Tuesday 6 November. WCED spokesperson Millicent Merton said the learner and his parents will be informed of the outcome of the hearing in due course.
The incident was preceded by a request from the teacher for the learner to remove his cap while in class.
Another learner who threw water at "Mr Wrestling", who was part of the antibullying campaign under the auspices of Sean and Chantel Norris's local South African Sports League, has been absent from school since Thursday 25 October. He returned to school on Tuesday 6 November and received a letter to appear before the school's governing body disciplinary committee.
A third incident, a fight between learners outside the school grounds which happened on Friday 26 October, was addressed internally after the parents of the learners were summoned to come to school.
