A DESTINATION TO INSPIRE YOU IN OCTOBER’S GETAWAY
That’s the length, in kilometres, of the Ribbok Trail, the only overnight hike in the Golden Gate Highlands National Park in the north-eastern Free State. It’s the park’s flagship trail, and for good reason: it takes intrepid walkers to the very top of the imposing Brandwag Buttress as well as past a number of epic peaks, offering some of the most beautiful views of sandstone cliff formations in the whole of the Free State. Just two kilometres from the overnight hut is a gorgeous waterfall – perfect for whiling away a summer afternoon (you’ve earned it). We found four different ways to spend a weekend in this popular park; start planning your trip with the October issue.
