Behind the scenes at our GLAMOUR’S Most GLAMOUROUS shoots
What went on behind the lens at our GLAMOUR’S Most GLAMOUROUS 2016 shoots.
What do you get when you combine a room full of designer gowns and killer heels, masses of makeup, two great photographers, a full fashion team and 10 beautiful SA fashionistas? Stellar style inspiration, that’s what! And that’s exactly what we got at this year’s GLAMOUR’S Most GLAMOUROUS shoots in Cape Town and Joburg. Here’s what went on.
The popular and prestigious Taboo Night Club – a favourite of Bonang Matheba, Shashi Naidoo and Da LES – was the setting for our Joburg shoot, while mirrorballs and chandeliers were the order of the day at Cape Town’s Coco – the playground of choice for Nicky Romero, Cassie and Tinie Tempah on their recent trips to our shores.
Photographer Jonathan Taylor, his team and videographer Tyron Marshall captured every glamorous moment in Cape Town, while photographer Darren Gwynn worked his magic with our winners in Joburg.
From the early morning start to the end of the day, you could feel the excitement and happiness in the air as our winners and teams selected gowns and angles, chatted away and consumed masses of coffee. Not surprisingly, fashion was a frequent topic of conversation (everyone loved Noni Gasa’s metallic Miu Miu brogues), but there was plenty talk of romance, too, with the ladies cheerfully providing relationship advice to our fashion intern Kirsten Reuter.
The mood for the day was the beautiful things in life, with an emphasis on dazzling jewels, shimmering details and figureflattering silhouettes. Our 10 incredible winners were decked out in designer gowns by Gavin Rajah, Galluzziegini and KLÛK CGDT, heels by Europa Art Shoes and jewellery by Colette by Colette Hayman. Think the old-school glamour and luxury of an exclusive Hollywood event. After all, at GLAMOUR, we believe that every woman should be the belle of the ball, and our fashion team certainly enjoyed dressing these belles!
With a flick of the wrist and a flip of the hair, our winners were transformed into red-carpet divas by makeup artists Kelly Paitaki and Lesley Whitby, and hairstylists Richard Wilkinson and KellyJean Gilbert. And since GLAMOUR’S Most GLAMOUROUS 2016 is held in association with L’oréal Paris, an appropriately fashionable brand, all of the makeup used for our shoot was kindly sponsored by this expert international company. The beauty mood: bold red lips and beautiful golds, bronzes and chocolates for the eyes. Curls, waves and updos chimed perfectly with the old-hollywood vibe. And the final detail? Plenty of laughter. After all, what’s the point of glamour if it doesn’t go with a great time?
