It’s no secret that Minnie Dlamini adores handbags and shoes (for more on that, keep reading). But those designer totes and heels may need to move over to make space for the trophies and awards that keep rolling in for the 26 year old.

In the past three years alone, Minnie’s awards have included: GLAMOUR Women of the Year 2013 Readers’ Choice, Sunday Times Generation Next Coolest Female 2013-2015, YOU Spectacular’s Sexiest Woman 2016 and honorary recognition at the KZN Young Achievers Awards. To crown it all, she hit social media gold as Instagram’s most followed SA celeb (@minniedlamini) with 1.1 million followers.

The former pageant queen turned actress, model and MC was studying drama, film and media at the University of Cape Town when she got her first break: winning the 2010 presenter search for the SABC 1 music show LIVE .

“My parents were absolutely devastated when I auditioned for the show. They thought I would ruin my life,” she smiles. “My mother even phoned to scold me when she saw me on TV. But after giving me a long speech, she voted for me anyway!”

A presenter gig on the lifestyle show Mzansi Insider was next, followed by acting roles in hit shows like The Wild and Rockville, as well as a guest appearance on the SA TV classic Generations. And just in case that wasn’t enough, she decided to add her love of sport to the mix, joining the charismatic Thomas Mlambo on Soccerzone in 2013.

So, what’s next for this sparkling media icon?

“I’m hosting Troprika Island of Treasure: Seychelles, so I’ll be spending a month on the island for the shoot.” (Look out for the show, which airs in April next year.) She has also been made an ambassadress for BMW, a role that involves driving her very own new electric BMW i8. “I’m looking forward GLAMOUR Your job looks glamorous and exciting – what do you love the most about it? MINNIE The fact that it’s not a regular ‘9-5’ job; no two days are the same, so it always stays fun and fresh.

“I’ve even turned my second bedroom into a closet to store all my handbags.”
