If you haven’t taken note of her yet, you will soon. Actress Nambitha BenMazwi, 27, has a lead role in the TV drama Doubt, presents inserts on SABC 3’s Expresso, and appears in the UK series Black Mirror and the miniseries Madiba alongside Laurence Fishburne.

Born and raised in Port Elizabeth, Nambitha studied Business Science at the University of Cape Town.

“But I loved drama as a child and the media bug bit in my first year, when I worked on the campus radio station and landed an MC gig with MTN during the 2010 FIFA World Cup,” she says.

In 2012, after a year of working as a management consultant, Nambitha resigned from the corporate world and went to visit a friend in New York. That two-week trip turned into a six-month stay during which time she worked as a hostess at a comedy club called The Stand and became exposed to the TV industry.

Back home in SA, Nambitha ran digital marketing for Heart 104.9FM, appeared in season two of etv’s Traffic! and made it to the finals of the Top Billing Presenter Search.

Next up for the star? “I want to grow my media company, nambithabm Media, share African stories and talent with the world, and maintain my presence as an actress,” she says.
