when it comes to makeup, foun­da­tion is, quite lit­er­ally, the base to any look – and yet it’s the hard­est prod­uct to get right. Un­til now. With so many new for­mu­las and shade ex­ten­sions, there is some­thing for ev­ery­one, re­gard­less of your skin type or colour. Don’t know where to start? Don’t worry, we’ve quizzed the pros and tested the lat­est in­no­va­tions to en­sure that ac­ing your base has never been so easy. “Be­fore choos­ing your foun­da­tion, con­sider your skin type, so you get the right for­mu­la­tion for your skin,” says makeup artist Kirstin Pig­gott. Once you’ve fig­ured out your skin type, think about the cov­er­age. “For oily skin, choose a prod­uct that is non-oil-based, like a min­eral pow­der that will con­trol se­bum while giv­ing you a flaw­less com­plex­ion,” ad­vises makeup artist Ta­nia Grier. “If you have dry skin, opt for a liq­uid- or cream-based for­mula with skin­care ben­e­fits. Com­bi­na­tion skin types should com­bine matte and hy­drat­ing foun­da­tions to the ar­eas where needed.
