DO avoid looking like a disco ball

You want to look like you’re glowing from the inside, not like one of the Twilight vampires. “If the bronzer is shimmery, brush it lightly onto the inner corner of your eyes, your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose and the Cupid’s bow. A little goes a long way,” says Lucoh.

DO go for glitter

Add a touch of the Las Vegas showgirl to your look, but only a touch! “Makeup should make you look and feel beautiful, but not overwhelm. If you choose something as bold as glitter, pick just one feature to accentuate, such as your eyelids.”

DO consider the texture

The play between matte and shimmer makes a difference. “Matte deflects light while sheens attract it,” says Lucoh. If you have more mature skin, stay away from high shine, which emphasises lines. To get the effect you want, use a matte shade as a base, then add a dab of glitter or metallic.
