6 Ways to be a sporty siren
Hit the ball out of the park with Ahmed Dajee of Atelier Dajee’s highend updates on the sports luxe look.
1 Don’t leave out the ‘luxe’
If you want to ace this trend, it’s important not to focus fully on the sports and forget about the luxe aspect. At Atelier Dajee we use sports luxe elements to add freshness to high-end fashion. This balance between laidback and sophisticated keeps your look on point.
Instead of wearing head-to-toe sports luxe, pair sporty track pants with a formal blouse, or a basic black T-shirt with a glamorous fulllength skirt.
2 Invest in a great sweater
It’s a great piece to start with when venturing into the trend. And when it comes to colours, keep it classic in dark hues like black and shades of grey. But if you prefer a bold print, be wary of your accessory choices. Go for simple jewellery in black, gold or silver.
3 Rethink your sporty pieces
This winter, gem hues like emerald and ruby are strong colours that draw attention.
In terms of textiles, don’t shy away from appliqué or embroidery. And don’t be afraid of mixing up natural fabrics, like silk and cotton, with synthetics, like neoprene, spandex and polyester.
I’m also loving petite faux leather backpacks. You can wear them with anything and they keep your look fuss-free.
4 Update your sneakers
White sneakers are the go-to footwear choice, but for something a little bit more interesting, try sneakers in tan or navy. Other options to think about: thick-soled shoes or block heels.
5 Consider comfort
The best part of the sports luxe trend is the comfort factor. It enables you to do all of your tasks, while still looking good for day or night.
The trend incorporates items that work hard to get you through the day and allow you to look effortlessly chic well into the evening.
6 Don’t fear sheer
Suitable even for a shy dresser, sheer and delicate layers adds a sultry edge to your look. You don’t have to go for the ultra-sheer flesh-tone style for this to work.
Instead of opting for all-out exposure, incorporate both the sport luxe and sheer trends by pairing loose-fit trousers and hip-length shirts with sheer panels that show just a hint of skin.
Sheer elements are also a great way of following the body’s silhouette while still making the clothes, and not your form, do all the work.
