of un­at­tached sur­vey tak­ers say they’ve joined a dat­ing app. In­deed, they re­port it’s their num­ber-one way to meet peo­ple. (Those who opt out say the top rea­son is “ev­ery­one on them just wants sex.”)

of users say they haven’t found what they’re look­ing for.

What’s the ap­peal?

The most com­mon rea­sons users say they log on:

72%...... “I just like to go on to see who’s out there.” 53%..... “I use them when I’m bored.” 18%..... “I use them as a last re­sort.” 18%..... “I use them with friends (some­times they even swipe for me).”

Yes, apps do make us more ad­ven­tur­ous. 15%

of those who use apps say the plat­forms led them to try some­thing new sex­u­ally.
