Are you super natural?
Your natural profile
You eat organic, recycle and want to stock your beauty bag with eco-conscious, chemical-free products.
How to shop
Bypass the beauty counter and hit a health food store to find items chock-full of plant and herb extracts, and oils, and ingredients derived from them. Then read the ingredient lists. You should be able to recognise most, if not all, listed.
Don’t opt for products with mineral oil, which, while technically natural, is produced from petroleum. The greenest brands use alternatives like beeswax, and almond and coconut oil.
Plant oils are less likely to clog your pores while keeping skin hydrated and smooth. They also deliver fatty acids and antioxidants to help keep skin healthy, and they are made from renewable sources, says Dr Kraffert. They improve the texture of all-natural products, which tend to feel “like porridge, lacking the slip of most synthetic ingredients,” says Helen Ambrosen, co-founder of Lush.
