And this is our SA star…
It goes without saying that one of the night’s biggest thrills was toasting this creation. The ensemble of silk dress, organza shorts, and wool and organza coat, is the collaborative creation of SA fashion icon Clive Rundle, and Lesotho fabric designers Phutheho Ranooe and Maleeto Monyau, of House of Thethana. “It’s beautiful work,” said Hamish. And it surely was.
The pattern, carefully developed by the three talents, was inspired by Lesotho’s rich history of horsemanship, and screenprinted with environmentally-friendly, water-based inks. The cut, with its blend of tailoring and femininity, typified Clive’s aesthetic – classic and considered, with that magical touch of the unexpected.
“It’s always exciting to be part of the global fashion dialogue,” says the designer. “The voice of African fashion is powerful and original, and it inspires worldwide trends.”
