DO vacation like a star

-

Growing increasingly frustrated that everyone appears to be on holiday all the time except for you? Us, too. So cut out those frivolous purchases, save up your annual leave and treat yourself to these celeb-approved hot spots.

A flight to Havana is like a trip back in time. Vintage cars, colourful buildings and a laidback way of life is what you can expect. Dance to the reggaeton music in the streets, sip mojitos out of giant melons and live your best life. Prices in Cuba are relatively reasonable for South Africans, so you won’t have to break the bank. Do keep in mind that wifi is notoriously scarce, so leave your work at home.

A beach paradise right around the corner is not easy to turn down. Explore the ocean beds, get up-close and personal with sea turtles in the morning, then trudge through the bush, shoulderto-shoulder with elephants in the afternoon. Pick up a few Portuguese phrases beforehand and impress the cute locals.

Real talk? The closest many of us will ever get to this destination is a Google search. However, a few years living off instant coffee and complimentary mints, and who knows… Yacht-living at its best, the starter-pack includes a kaftan, panama hat and a lot of change in your back pocket.
