Th­ese easy sosaties are served with a “can salad” – per­fect for a quick and easy camp­fire meal.

In­gre­di­ents

(enough for 4)

1 red pep­per

1 onion

500 g lamb, cut into 2x2 cm pieces (shoul­der or leg) 1 cup bar­be­cue sauce 2 cloves gar­lic, finely chopped

1 chilli, finely chopped

1 can black beans, drained 1 can whole corn ker­nels, drained

4 spring onions, finely chopped

1 lemon

4 ta­ble­spoons olive oil salt and pep­per to taste

Here’s how

1 Cut the red pep­per and onion into quar­ters and then into halves. Thread the pep­per, meat and onion onto sosatie sticks in that order.

2 Mix the bar­be­cue sauce with the gar­lic and chilli and baste the sosaties with the mix­ture.

3 Mix the beans, corn and spring onions with each other and squeeze the juice from the lemon over the mix­ture. Sprin­kle with the olive oil and flavour to taste with salt and pep­per.

4 Braai the sosaties over medium coals un­til the meat is cooked but still juicy. Serve with the salad.

go! Drive & Camp says Leave the chilli if your BBQ sauce has enough bite to it. If you don’t like the burn­ing taste, re­place the chilli with half a tea­spoon pa­prika.
