Stick to it
These easy sosaties are served with a “can salad” – perfect for a quick and easy campfire meal.
(enough for 4)
1 red pepper
500 g lamb, cut into 2x2 cm pieces (shoulder or leg) 1 cup barbecue sauce 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 chilli, finely chopped
1 can black beans, drained 1 can whole corn kernels, drained
4 spring onions, finely chopped
4 tablespoons olive oil salt and pepper to taste
1 Cut the red pepper and onion into quarters and then into halves. Thread the pepper, meat and onion onto sosatie sticks in that order.
2 Mix the barbecue sauce with the garlic and chilli and baste the sosaties with the mixture.
3 Mix the beans, corn and spring onions with each other and squeeze the juice from the lemon over the mixture. Sprinkle with the olive oil and flavour to taste with salt and pepper.
4 Braai the sosaties over medium coals until the meat is cooked but still juicy. Serve with the salad.
go! Drive & Camp says Leave the chilli if your BBQ sauce has enough bite to it. If you don’t like the burning taste, replace the chilli with half a teaspoon paprika.
