Artists step in to help char­ity

YOU can look for­ward to see­ing some of the most spec­tac­u­lar works of East Lon­don artists on dis­play at the Port Rex Lion’s Club art ex­hi­bi­tion for char­ity.

The ex­hi­bi­tion will be held at the mu­seum’s Courtenay-La­timer Hall from Fri­day un­til Oc­to­ber 3.

Dur­ing this time, art lovers will get to view and pur­chase any of the pieces.

Art lover Nel­son Restom will be open­ing the ex­hi­bi­tion. View­ing on week­days will be from 10am to 5pm and over the week­end from 10am to 4pm.

“Ex­actly 50 artists from East Lon­don will be show­cas­ing their work this year,” Rex Lions’ club sec­re­tary El­iz­a­beth Avoni said.

“Art lovers can ex­pect to see beau­ti­ful pieces from paint­ings to sculp­tures among other works.

“This is a per­fect op­por­tu­nity for lo­cal artists to show­case their tal­ent while also con­tribut­ing to char­ity,” Avoni said.

“The club en­cour­ages artists from East Lon­don to view and join the ex­hi­bi­tion.”

The pro­ceeds will be do­nated to St Bernard’s Hos­pice.

“The club in­vites ev­ery­one to come by to sup­port our lo­cal artists while help­ing raise money for St Bernard’s,” Avoni said.
