Muso Ma­tross ready to rock his fans at Le­gends Show­case

O’BRIAN Ma­tross per­forms live at Le­gends Show­case on Satur­day at 7pm.

Ma­tross is a East Lon­don-born singer, song-writer and record pro­ducer whose reper­toire com­prises a wide genre, rang­ing from rock, soul-funk, al­ter­na­tive, blues, con­tem­po­rary, R&B, reg­gae to gospel.

He is the lead vo­cal­ist and gui­tarist whose line-up con­sists of a three-piece band with whom he reg­u­larly tours.

He has com­posed a song for jazz, afro pop and multi-award win­ning artist, Ju­dith Se­phuma. The song which is fea­tured on the al­bum, is called The al­bum which Se­phuma a South African Mu­sic Award (Sama) for “Best Artist of the Year”.

He wrote his first song at the age of 12 for a school project and taught him­self to play the gui­tar. He re­searched and vis­ited lo­cal libraries to gain in-depth knowl­edge of the elec­tric gui­tar. It was dur­ing this time where he be­gan to learn about gui­tar icons; Jimi Hen­drix, Jeff Beck, Chuck Berry, Ge­orge Ben­son and the like. He is a ver­sa­tile, multi-in­stru­men­tal­ist who records and pro­duces his own mu­sic and usu­ally plays all in­stru­ments on his record­ings.
