Mart-Maré, who is in charge of the Humansdorp Museum, has lived here for 34 years. The museum gets busier during the holidays, but is popular throughout the year. “There’s a good balance between old and young in the town,” Mart-Maré says. Young people don’t just leave, as happens in many other platteland towns. And I cannot complain about municipal service delivery. We are very lucky in that regard. And it is still safe here.”
