Some of the ranges

• Bed Bath Body: a retail range sold only in the Schoemans’ shops (in Hilton, Parys and Johannesburg)

• Franse Chateau and Reukkasteel: two Afrikaans ranges

• A decor range: picture frames, mirrors, soaps and candles

• 0-7 range: No. 5 (Fresh Fig) sells well everywhere, in all the ranges, but No. 4 (Bloom, with a citrus-blossom base) and No. 6 (Sunrise, more earthy) do not sell well anywhere, even if discounted by 50%

• JJ Man: men’s range: white men don’t buy much; Indian men don’t hesitate to spoil themselves (or the women in their life)

• # range: This range, sold in darkbrown bottles, was a big success everywhere but in Hilton. The Schoemans figured out that the packaging reminded Hilton’s retirees of medicine bottles; when they changed it, the products flew off the shelves.
