ERNIE’S NEW COURSE
The Els Club Malaysia Teluk Datai opens for play.
THERE’S A GOOD REASON For Ernie Els spending as much time as he has in Malaysia in recent years. He’s finally launched a golf course of his own in the region, in the most spectacular of settings on an island in the Andaman Sea. Among the guests at the official opening was the Queen of Malaysia. An ancient rainforest is the inland backdrop to the course, which has five holes skirting the crystal clear blue waters of the sea. From these you can view white, sandy beaches and other islands which form part of the Langkawi archipelago. It’s part of a luxury resort, the Datai Langkawi, and is the third Els Club in the world, following the ones in Dubai and in Gauteng.
