RESTORING PAY-AND-PLAY IN JOBURG

Golf Digest (South Africa) - - Disruptors Innovators & Risk-Takers -

Gauteng golfers lost a valuable asset when the Huddle Park municipal complex (3 courses in its heyday) was closed down after years of neglect. The large property became overgrown, a haven for vagrants, and dangerous to enter, until in 2012 a Johannesburg businessman, David Bagg, and golf instructor Mike Kletz ( below), had the vision to rehabilitate and restore the Blue Course to its former glory. Bagg invested heavily in the project, and a year ago the new Huddle Park was opened. He helped breathe new life into the Linksfield area, and bring people back into what is a beautiful park.

Today the Huddle Park facility is busy not only with golfers from Tuesday to Sunday, but also mountain bikers on a new trail within the property. It’s a perfect first stop for new golfers; there’s a pro shop, range, par-3 course, and putt-putt.
