harl Schwartzel experienced grief on the greens on the PGA Tour this season, ranking 176th in strokes gained/putting – a shocking rank considering he would have led the tour in that stat in 2010 (if he had enough rounds to qualify) and was 43rd two years ago. That led the 2011 Masters champion to switch from a blade putter to Nike’s Method Converge S2-12 (left), a mallet with a different look (the putter sports “wings” in the back cavity area) that Schwartzel felt helped with his alignment. The putter features a resin material between the face and back of the putter to help with performance on off-centre hits over a wider area of the face. The resin also is used in the grooved insert to promote a better roll.
