The PGA Tour’s 5 longest drivers
These are not the top 5 in driving distance on the PGA Tour, but players who hit the most number of drives in the 300-metre plus range. The PGA Tour works in yards, and no one hit more drives “over 320 yards (293 metres)” in 2015 than Bubba Watson (right). He had 271 of them with his pink Ping G30, which was 35 percent of the time. His longest? That was a 402-yard blast at Whistling Straits in the PGA Championship. He had 19 drives of 375 yards (343 metres) and longer.
Watson was followed on 30% by Dustin Johnson (227 drives), whose TaylorMade AeroBurner TP checks in at a he y D-7 swingweight. His longest was 406 yards at Firestone in the WGC-Bridgestone.
Jason Day was No 3 on 25% with mostly a TaylorMade R15 460 driver (202 drives). J B Holmes (No 4 on 24% with 221 drives) also uses the R15 but prefers the smaller 430 version. Rounding out the top 5 on 21% (93 drives) was Adam Scott, whose tour-only Titleist 915D5 model has a 400 head. Rookie Tony Finau had 253 drives over 320 yards, 20% of his total drives.
Longest South African was Charl Schwartzel, ranked 20th with 12% (70 drives). Branden Grace had a 393-yarder (360m) at the WGC-Bridgestone.
