San Lameer must be one of the scariest courses for a pro to play on the Sunshine Tour, what with all the water and bush lurking at virtually every hole. Cape Town-based Erik van Rooyen, who had another superb year on tour (14th on the Order of Merit), will not easily forget his last two holes at the KZN South Coast resort. He was two-over for the final round after a birdie at 16, and looking at a top-10 finish in the Vodacom Origins event. However, he signed for an 82 after having an 8 at 17 and 9 at 18. Louis Oosthuizen was runner-up in the 2014 Alfred Dunhill Championship, but this year two of his tee shots at Leopard Creek found the water on the par-3 seventh, and he walked o with an 8, missing the cut by two shots. It was his first missed cut in South Africa since 2010 – and that was also at Leopard Creek.
