The Lost City Golf Club is regarded as one of the tougher courses in South Africa, and the Sunshine Tour pros certainly found it testing in 2015.The average score in the Sun City Challenge was the highest on tour, with the Lost City playing to an average score of 74.33 over 54 holes.

The eld for the Sun City Challenge was not of the strong quality you get at the major tour events, but Lost City at 6 750 metres still proved nearly

ve shots harder than the West course at Royal Johannesburg & Kensington (6 600m), which averaged 69.50 during the Joburg Open. Also on the easy side was the Royal Swazi Spa (6 140m), averaging 69.92 in the Lombard Insurance Classic.

San Lameer is just 6 100 metres from the tips, but the KZN South Coast layout proved during the Vodacom Origins series that it is a formidable test, not far behind Lost City, with an average score of 74.23.

When it comes to old, classic courses, the toughest still remains Humewood, where the average score was 74.19 in the Sun Boardwalk Challenge.

Twelve of the 25 tournaments on the 2015 Sunshine Tour were either part of theVodacom Origins of Golf, or the Sun International series. They were played at 12 di erent courses, and we looked at how they compared in terms of di culty.
