Nelspruit Golf Club members Joseph and Cecilia Abraham created possible South African golfing history when they each had holes-in-one while playing together at Nelspruit on January 3. Joseph, who plays o 15, aced the 172-metre 13th hole, and 17-handicap Cecilia chipped in for a birdie two on the same hole. Four holes later, at the 110metre 17th, Cecilia saw her tee shot hit the flag, but only when she reached the green did she realise that she had also holed out for her first ace.

Said Joseph: “For the rst time I realised how determined a woman can be when she is jealous.” Prior to this, every time Cecilia got the better of him on the golf course, he would taunt her by saying that she had never had a hole-in-one. Now he has lost that advantage.

Then, 11 days later, on January 14, Joseph had another hole-in-one, once again on his lucky hole 13, this time at Highland Gate golf estate. Jaco Ackermann, Nelspruit

Golf Digest has no record of a husband and wife having holes-in-one in the same round while playing together. There was a celebrated occasion in Michigan last year when an American couple, Tony and Janet Blundy, had consecutive aces on the same hole.
