Royal Durban is hosting the national golf club championships in May, and we are looking for more clubs to send teams to boost this inaugural event. Entries close on March 31.

Each club is allowed a team of 8 players (4 betterball pairs), and we can accommodate 64 teams. The 72-hole tournament, from May 2 to 5, is being hosted by ourselves, Durban CC, Mount Edgecombe and Kloof CC, with the participants playing one round on each course. The top 16 teams will qualify for the finals at Royal Durban on Saturday, May 7.

We have R250 000 in prize money which will be shared among the top five clubs. The winning club (not the individual players) will receive R80 000.

This is an opportunity for clubs to support their members and pay for their entrance fees into the Royal Durban tournament, which is R 16000 a team.

Some of the clubs which have entered a team are holding qualifying rounds, to create interest at their own clubs. To enter a team, please contact me at, or phone 083 325 1821. Mike Jordan, Club Manager, Royal Durban GC
