NORMAN OUT AT FOX SPORTS

Golf Digest (South Africa) - - Super Sport Diary -

Greg Norman has lost his job as the lead golf analyst for Fox Sports, and been replaced by former American Ryder Cup captain Paul Azinger. Norman lasted one year as Joe Buck’s sidekick at the USGA’s three biggest events, including the 2015 US Open at Chambers Bay. Fox have been left explaining what went so wrong so fast with Norman. The 60-year-old Australian seemed energised when discussing his countrymen, even leaving the TV booth to get insight into Jason Day’s vertigo at the US Open. But the passion was lacking the rest of the time. Norman remained flat, and Fox subsequently decided to divest themselves with 11 years remaining on its USGA contract. The parting comes after Norman had openly tabbed himself as the best candidate to headline Fox’s golf coverage. Azinger comes with lots of broadcasting experience, having worked for ABC and ESPN. He has a way of leaving the audience feeling entertained and enlightened.
