PGA MIGHT MOVE TO MAY DATE
There is talk of the US PGA Championship becoming the second major of the calendar year, rather than the final one, if golf remains in the Olympics after the 2020 Games in Tokyo. Last year the PGA had to move to the last week of July to avoid clashing with the Rio Games, and the PGA of America would like to move their championship permanently from August to May. This would depend on the PGA Tour’s Players Championship returning to a March date. The FedEx Cup Playoffs would begin earlier in August, finishing up on the American holiday of Labour Day, the first Monday of September. The Ryder Cup would then be played earlier in September.
