BUSY SECOND SEASON FOR PAIRS EVENT
Club qualifiers for Windhoek Lager International Pairs must be played by March 31.
The Windhoek Lager International Pairs has enjoyed overwhelming popularity in its second season, living up to its slogan of “going from strength to strength.”
Having had 162 qualifying events around South African golf clubs in the first season in 2016, organiser Johan Scholtz of African Sports Management was hoping for 200 events in season two. “We are already up to 232 events and there are registrations being made on a daily basis,” he said. “Club qualifiers can be held through to March 31, so registration remains open. Remember that clubs are not restricted to one event, and can have as many as they wish.
“We particularly would like to invite the ladies sections of golf clubs to have their own qualifying events. The rules of the competition do enable them to invite visitors from neighbouring clubs which might have smaller sections.”
Scholtz said that his goal was to have every golf club in South Africa taking part. Some golf clubs in rural areas might not have a big enough membership, but the rules allow for these clubs to combine for one qualifying day.
“There must be a minimum of 30 players to constitute a qualifying event. For every 30 players participating, one pair will go through to the regional finals.
“A huge thank you is due to all the participating clubs which see the Windhoek Lager International Pairs as an opportunity to offer their members and club golfers the chance to participate at regional, national and International level.”
African Sports Management, organisers of the Windhoek Lager International Pairs, have launched the ASM discount card where they have partnered with suppliers. Participants can receive free fittings from The Pro Shop, car rental discounts with unlimited kilometres from Tempest, and discounts on accommodation from City Lodge (10% weekdays and 30% weekends).
