PRESIDENTS CUP 2017

Golf Digest (South Africa) - - Inside The Ropes -

Nick Price’s International team of 12 for the Presidents Cup Match in America at the end of September could feature as many as six Asian players, the most ever. The team is selected from the World Ranking, and currently in line for selection are Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama, Yuta Ikeda and Hideto Tanihara, Koreans Byeong Hun Ann, Siwoo Kim and K T Kim, and Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee.

South Africans Branden Grace, Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen should retain their team places, plus Australians Jason Day, Adam Scott and Marc Leishman, while Argentine Emiliano Grillo is a strong contender.

There is still a long way to go before the team is chosen, and South Africans Brandon Stone and Richard Sterne hopefully will continue to make big strides up the World Ranking to challenge for places. Any International team member in the Top 50 of the ranking on September 4 is almost certain to be in.
