MONTY’S MAJOR MESS UP
Many remember Phil Mickelson’s collapse in the 2006 US Open at Winged Foot. But Colin Montgomerie’s finish was equally tragic. He birdied the 71st hole, snaking in a 60foot putt for a share of the lead. Then on the final hole, he fatted a 7-iron approach, pitched long and three-putted for a double bogey. As it turned out, a par would have won. Geoff Ogilvy took the major instead.
