SENIORS & MID-AMS
Francois le Roux, 56 (De Zalze), claimed his 17th victory on the senior circuit by winning the Western Province Senior Open for a third time, with 70-74 at King David Mowbray, from Mzuyanda Zingela (Walmer CC 72-75). Super Senior Adrian Kriel, 62 (Wingate Park), enjoyed his first win since 2015 in the Winelands Senior Open (72-71) at De Zalze, by two from Steve Williams, Andre van Dyk and Stephen Johnston.
Greg Gleeson, 54 (Kyalami), again came up trumps in a playoff in the Central Gauteng Senior Open at Ruimsig (75-67), beating home club member Stephen Johnston (70-72) in sudden-death. He had done the same in the Gauteng North Open.
Andre van Dyk, 51 (Langebaan 75-77), is No 2 on the national senior rankings after winning the Senior Players at Gary Player CC by one from Rurik Gobel (Randpark 76-77). Van Dyk was runnerup in the Winelands, and T-3 in the WP Open.
Kevin Sharp (Modderfontein) made it two straight Mid-Amateur wins, and rose to No 4 on the national rankings, when he shot 66-71 at State Mines, with 11 birdies and two eagles, to win the Ekurhuleni title by three from Alex van Heerden (Wingate Park 69-71).
Shaun Stapleton (Wanderers) won the Gauteng North Mid-Am at Irene CC (70) by one from home club member Francois Pretorius.
