Icelebrated my first hole-inone in 27 years of playing golf on March 9 at Simola, and never in my wildest dreams did I expect another ace, only to have my second hole-in-one the very next day at Pinnacle Point! I was on a Garden Route golf tour with seven friends (staying at Oubaai), and I aced the ninth hole at Simola, using a 5-iron. On a windy day at Pinnacle Point, my 9-iron shot went into the hole at the seventh (right). How many golfers in South Africa have achieved this on consecutive days at different courses? Jaco Kriek, Centurion CC, Gauteng The odds on this happening are astronomical. We do know of Sunshine Tour golfer Keith Horne having aces on consecutive days at Leopard Creek during the 2012 Alfred Dunhill Championship (both on the 12th), and several golfers who have had two aces in the same round – most recently Mauro Nettl at St Francis Links in 2014. However, this is the first instance we know about in South Africa of a golfer having aces on consecutive days at different courses. If any reader knows of another, please inform us.
