ARE TREES REALLY 90% AIR?
▶ Golfers often tell each other this as they attempt to manoeuvre past (or through) trees that get in their way. But before you talk yourself into that hero shot, take heed. We tested the “90 percent air” claim on six species of shrubs. Only 5 percent of the balls made it through unimpeded to the green. On average, our shots made it just 41.5 percent of the way to their intended target, with 11.6 percent ricocheting back in our direction.
