E-MAIL TACKLE STAINS ASAP Pretreat with a few drops of detergent, then wash according to the care label. If the stain doesn’t come out, wash again. SKIP DRY-CLEANING Choose machinewashable silk. Turn inside out before washing and use a detergent for delicates, such as Woolite. AIR-DRY – IN THE TUMBLE DRYER! Silk can wrinkle when hung up to dry. To avoid this, use the air-only cycle on your tumble dryer for 10 minutes to fluff and remove deep creases. Then air-dry and iron on a low heat. WASH YOUR FACE If you’re using silk bedsheets and pillowcases, note that ingredients in lotions and acne treatments can stain and damage silk. Remove makeup and creams before hopping into bed. Vicki Sleet
