Dear GH,

Good Housekeeping (South Africa) - - YOUR FEEDBACK -

I HAD TO INTERRUPT my reading of Susan Hayden’s column Losing a Loved One in your March issue several times, because I was just crying so much.

Ironically I did not have this beautiful relationship with my dad, but I always fantasised about it and at almost 50 years of age, the longing for it never stops. I’ve always wanted to be someone’s princess, and to be told I’m beautiful and ‘any man would be lucky to get you.’

Susan, your father ‘did Dad’ to perfection! What a man he was. Your pain and desperate loss is palpable – I so feel for you. You showed me what my dream dad would’ve been like.

I thank you for that, and may you find the strength to carry on without this phenomenal man. Riana Appelgryn (Riana wins a Thalgo hamper worth R2 500)
